Elswyth’s Shed

Elswyth's Shed will be opening its doors again in 2025. It is available as a stand-alone installation or a small-scale performance... or both!

Have you ever seen a face in the bark of a tree?

Or a picture in the pattern on a leaf?

Or letters made of twigs on the path?

If you have, then the chances are, you’ve been in very close proximity to the elusive Perilieu. Often described (incorrectly) as sprites or fairies they have remained a mystery for centuries and are incredibly difficult to spot.

And now the Perlilieu are on the move! Which means that so is Elswyth Eri, and this shed you have stumbled across today is her research HQ and home. Following them around the globe, Elswyth is determined to discover everything she can about these secretive creatures who protect our forests and maybe, with your help, see one with her own eyes!

Performance

Watch as the shed unfolds and the secret life of Elswyth Eri and her quest to find the Perilieu tumbles out and all around. This playful, interactive performance is a chance to meet Elswyth Eri on one of the few days she isn’t deep undercover amongst the trees. She’ll tell tales of her adventures, invite you to explore her unique inventions and fill you with so much magic and mystery you’ll leave with a quest of our own!

Audio

A seven minute (approximately) guided audio experience introducing all budding clue finders, sign seekers and Perilieu spotters to everything they need to know to help Elswyth on her quest. With plenty to hear, see, find and explore your visit to Perilieu HQ promises to keep brains buzzing and imaginations fizzing long after you’ve left and maybe a new way to see the wonderful world around us.
